Leo, the greatest ever?

The unstoppable scoring machine that is Lionel Messi is quite clearly a talent that is hard to ignore. The list of the records he currently holds is terrifying.

– First player in history to win 4 ballon d’ors

– First to win 3 European golden show awards

– Most hat-tricks in the champions league (4)

– Most goals in a single season (71)

– Most goals in a calender year (91)

and the list goes on, the question to ask is when will this end? By the time he retires will the little man hold every footballing record possible? At the time of writing he is just 9 goals of Rauls champions league record… at the age of 26.

His Barcelona record currently stands at 242 goals in 220 games. That is 1.1 goals a match. Stunning. The Assists are not to be ignored either as his constant work for his team-mates provide opportunities which make Barcelona such a tough team to defend against.

The only thing missing from his array of trophies and awards  is an international trophy and he has faced some criticism for not performing as well for his country, however he currently has 10 goals in 14 games for Argentina in their qualifying record and 37 goals in total recently surpassing the great Diego Maradona and Hernan Crespo.
